THE MEADOWLARK - THE RECITATION WITH MUSIC
by ANNE WAKELY JACKSON
OF COURSE you know the Meadowlark;
He wears a vest of yellow,
A trim striped coat and jet black tie-
He is a handsome fellow.
He wears a vest of yellow,
A trim striped coat and jet black tie-
He is a handsome fellow.
When Spring comes tripping down this way,
He takes up his position
Upon a roadside post and sings,
For he's a good musician.
And maybe he will sing like this:
Or maybe like this other:
And then, perhaps, across the road,
You ll hear this from his brother:
And, if you listen carefully,
Way off, you ll hear his cousin
For Meadowlarks
Can sing songs by the dozen.
They also make whole meals of bugs,
So we should all protect them.
The farmer knows they are his friends!
In March we may expect them.
